Short description:

This is a distortion pedal intended for use between a low level instrument such as an electric guitar and an amplifier set for clean to moderate distortion.

Here are some typical settings and information on how to get the most out of the DRD.

The controls are:

DIST.

which sets the amount of distortion and sustain as well as type of distortion - lower settings give uniformdistortion patterns which will be input amplitude sensitive i.e. the unit distorts more the harder you strike the strings: there is no definite clipping point - but rather different shades of distortion s as amplitude changes;

higher settings give more compression and less touch sensitive response and at maximum output will beheavily compressed, while still retaining clarity at almost infinite sustain.

A good starting point for this control is a bit below center (eleven o'clock) with most guitars.

DRD may be used as a booster by keeping DIST. at settings below center which is also a good starting point if you're using as overdrive pedal before DRD or if you want heavy distortions that will clean up as you turn down your guitar volume.

Settings near maximum will be heavily compressed making for an organ-type lead sound.

TREBLE

Which sets the treble content of the output signal, the use of this control is to set a good balance between processed and unprocessed sound e.g. if you have trebly clean tone and switching to DRD gives too much treble response, then backing on the TREBLE to a setting near zero (full counter clockwise) might give satisfactory results.

Sometimes a treble lift is wanted and setting above center (clockwise) will add some moderate increase in brilliance. A good starting point for this control is near center (twelve o'clock).

VOL.

Set's the balance between processed and unprocessed signal. A good starting point for this control is center (twelve o'clock) or a bit lower.

Input performance:

The unit has a high input impedance presenting only a light load to the pickups and the volume control on the guitar can be used as an auxiliary drive.

Output performance:

The output is designed to work into moderate to high impedance such that of a guitar amplifier and most effect boxes and tape echoes.

Maximum load extends down to around 20K.

Power requirements:

The unit is designed to work from a regular 6F22 9V battery contained in the box (you gain access by removing the four bottom screws) CAUTION! never operate the unit with its bottom removed or damage will most likely occur).

The current draw is in the approximately 3,9mA with the pilot LED lit, and 2,8mA without.

DRD will however work down to below 6 Volts. If sound gets muddy or LED light dim, its time to change the battery.

DYNA RED is the "big bad brother" of the BABY BLUE OD pedal that everyone loves.

It is once again 100% original design, 100% handmade by the designer with best (expensive) components,totally discrete circuit, no cheap op-amps here 5 year war-ranty.

True bypass, and each one is tuned by ear to the right tone, they all sound wonder-ful.

It is designed to work well with BABY BLUE OD, place DRD after BB OD and enjoy the wide tone palette of these two pedals,you get sweet overdrive, crunchy distortion and even great singing fuzz tones when use them at same time.

DYNA RED is more dynamic than BABY BLUE with less compression and more out-put and gain. It has different tone, more modern with less higher mids and more lower mids, it has also more low end and different overtones in high end.

DYNA RED has more of the high end and it was one of the design starting-points:to have very nice high end and enough of it. Not piercing or buzzing treble but a tone that cuts true a loud band and give nice clarity and distinctness on notes. DYNA RED also has more "crunch" than BABY BLUE OD. The tone in more aggressive and re- acts better into picking strength.

If BABY BLUE OD is little like a walk on a "Mystic Mile" blues territory with smoother overdrive, the DYNA RED is like running into "Highway To Hell".

It has this "Plexi" kind of nature.DYNA RED has very much boost and it can also be used as powerful clean boost.It is designed to work well with BABY BLUE OD and they are a great pair, you can also use both at same time.
